Has it actually been released? I went to buy Back In The World today at my local record shop and got it no problem but Any Road was no where in sight.Did'nt have time to check at HMV but because I have seen no promotion of it at all I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure.

So far the single is only available as an advance DJ copy, which can be purchased through ebay. They are going for about $16- $20. images/icons/smile.gif

Its just that I thought it was going on general release today.I've seen posts here saying that and HMV's website said it a while back.Has it been changed?

Yes, I did an extensive web search and found nothing~ no news even at Abbey Road as to why it may have been delayed. Also, no mention on any ebay 'DJ' copies about a more formal, general release of the single. Perhaps just a small delay. graemlins/thinker.gif

I just checked AbbeyRd, and it said May 12.

My husband checked HMV for it and they didn't know anything about it. They just said that the last release by George Harrison was My Sweet Lord last year. I don't know what's going on. graemlins/images/icons/confused.gif

Yes I too went down to Virgin Megastore and HMV only to be met with disappointment. Stil good news about the May 12th release date. By then though, I can't see the point of releasing it at all unless there ARE bonus tracks.

Still, at least a remix (Jeff Lynne is great at those) or an instrumental version, please !

Also, about the Any Road single, for us who have already heard Brainwashed a bonus track or video however short is a necessary additon I would say too. But for new listeners it's a very catchy little song all by itself! And makes a good single.

It looks like AbbeyRd.Net has reiterated the May 12th release date which lends more credence to the release. Paul was at number five in the British album charts the other week and Ringo Rama was 113 on Billboard, so hopefully so hopefully George can posthumously add to his criminally small number of hit singles in the UK.

AbbeyRd.Net says the b-side will be Marwa Blues and there will be a cool video apparently. If this is true I am bitterly disappointed not to be getting a "new" George track. Furthermore I regard the "cool" video as little consolation, because if it isn't a hit it has precious little chance of being played with any regularity, at least not on terrestrial tv (I'm primarily talking about England here). I nonetheless urge everyone in Blighty (and in America) to push it into the charts.

I will certainly be buying it. It is a shame that there won't be a new track included, but the fact that the single is being released is better than nothing at all. I don't have cable anymore, so I will probably have a hard time seeing the video too, but I will do my best, even if it means being glued to the TV!

Rocky Rabbit
Apr 16, 2003, 05:53 AM
Well,I won't be buying it and I am annoyed that they are putting Marwa Blues on as the B-side because lets face it how many people who buy the single won't have the album?.Not many I feel.
My opinion is that they are ripping off fans with the repackaging of an already available product.

I'm buying it! graemlins/dance.gif graemlins/dance.gif graemlins/dance.gif

I don't mind about the B side being Marwa. I'm happy a new single will be up at the music checkout counters (most probably) for some new hands to wonder about and sample. The more George fans in the world, the better!

Perhaps the family is saving available tracks for the box set. Also, putting a 'new' b side out would be work for Dhani, and maybe he needs some peace and rest. He deserves that. graemlins/heart2.gif

Do CD singles have B sides?

I look forward to that Any Road video, wonder what's on it.

Any Road how it came on the album, would also have been a great one on one of the Traveling Wilbury albums.

Eil.com has listed a UK 7" vinyl version of Any Road on their site. It has also listed a CD-ROM version of the CD Single, but no sign of a DVD format.

Visit www.eil.com (http://www.eil.com) and do a search for George Harrison.

I think number 37 is a mighty achievement. Paul's last three singles have sadly failed to crack the top 40 in Britain so it really is amazing that George can do it without being here to publicise it. A big pat on the back I think to all George fans in the UK who have brought George one last hit.

Indeed, top 40 is just incredible, against Paul's (who barely made it into the top 100 with "From A Lover To A Friend") and Ringo's (Ringo Rama did not chart) efforts.

And even without comparing, number 37 is a great achievement.

May I add that "Any Road" is getting heavy airplay in the Adult Contemporary radio stations here in Chile. I've heard it lots of times in the last week. images/icons/smile.gif

#37, that's GREAT!!!!!
I ordered a UK import as well, except the German release date for the single is June 2nd, so I still have to wait for it.

Oh well, at least it made the top 40 for a short while. Not that these charts mean much. You only have to look at some of the songs which did make the top 40 to know that it's not about good music, but then we knew that anyway.

I don't care about the top 40 but I hope that Dhani isn't discouraged.

I've just received in the mail from Amazon my Any Road CD. I'd seen the clip before once blurry on ATMP and also on pay TV. However it is very nice to own my copy.
It is really a very interesting clip. I would gladly buy something like this for all of his old ones especially if you could put them on the DVD.

I love the video, but as far as I'm conbcerned they could have used less of the 1974 tour. He just looked so bad there, so skinny.

I would love to have a picture of the scene with his Cloud 9 blue jacket (I want that one) in front of 'Hollywood'.

The shots of him in race cars if great too, as also the India dancing.

I have just seen the video today. I love the way the mixed the music with the old videos from him, creating a great effect. It shows a very happy George images/icons/smile.gif
