This is something which may be new to some folks, about George's relationship to the Haight Ashbury free clinic...

It's a nice article. I don't know about GG's comments but sometimes they are also over reacted by fans, even GG did some interesting writing.

Wasn't it San Fransisco where George was walking round with the guitar singing that a certain baby would become a rich man?

Yes, nice article! I knew George went to the Haight Asbury district in '67 and was turned off by what he saw(didn't he mention this in Anthology?) I didn't know that he donated money to their Free Clinic though!

GG's comments seem typically GG.

And the bit about the white socks. I noticed that too. George did a lot of cool, subtle kinds of things to make himself stand out! images/icons/smile.gif

I found it interesting that the article was written by Ben Fong-Torres, I wouldv'e expected him to quote from George's own account in the Anthology instead of one of GG's books. Still a great article though. I love the bit about George singing the Lumberjack Song, and a great comment in there too: "The image of my choice is not Beatle George. If they want to do that they can go and see Wings" graemlins/laugh7.gif
oh, that George...

Seriously, I couldn't see the then 24-year-old George being able to get into the San Francisco Summer of Love scene with teens. He was older, much more worldly and I don't think he could see a common ground there. That is JMHO.
