Here is some birthday news for us Los Angeles fans~
George Harrison's birthday to be celebrated at Hollywood Walk of Fame
Hollywood, CA -- George Harrison will be remembered at a "Public 60th Birthday Celebration" on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Beatles Hollywood Walk of Fame Star, located in the Walk of Fame Annex at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.
Fans of George Harrison are invited to bring flowers and birthday message cards to place around the star, and to participate in a 60th Birthday Cake-Cutting Ceremony to remember and honor the late legendary singer, songwriter and Beatles member. Live and taped George Harrison and Beatles songs will be played at the event, and fans are invited to perform their own music, poetry and spoken word tributes. Radio host Chris Carter and Beatles historian Michael Quarterman of "Breakfast With the Beatles" will lead the children at the event in lighting the candles and cutting the specially decorated cake. The cake is being donated courtesy of Capitol Records.
George Harrison was born February 25, 1943 in the Hunts Cross area of Liverpool and passed away on November 29, 2001 in Los Angeles after a long bout with cancer.
Following the event, the brthday message cards will be sent to George Harrison's wife Olivia Harrison.
The event is being sponsored by the Alliance for Survival peace and envronmental group. For further information call (310) 399-1000.
