I'm sure something similar to this has been posted before but...
It's almost been a year since George's passing. I just wondered if any of you have done something in particular as a tribute to him? For example, one of my friend's has worn a George pin everyday since Nov. 30 last year and will continue to until Nov. 30 this year. As for me, Last week, I drew an "om" on my hand in black ink, and have redrawn it everyday to make sure it stays. I plan on doing this everyday until Nov. 30 this year also.

I haven't done anything yet, but I've got a nice painting planned out in my head. Now I've just got to find the time to create it.

Well, I haven't done one particular thing every day to pay tribute, but after he passed away, I made a video tribute on the computer as well as made a scrapbook type tribute to his life.

Well, at Christmastime, I bought a little live tree and made ornaments of the SRF Gurus and also some other gurus that George had appreciated, also Krishna and of course Jesus (being Christmas!!). I put the quotes George had used from these different Gurus on the backs of the ornaments. I decorated the pot with cut out illustrations from the Bhagavad Gita, and put a special quote from Rumi at the middle. Then my hubby made a 3-D guitar as the tree topper. We took it the week before down to the Beatles star.
Then, for George's birthday, we made a collage with beautiful silk flowers and photos, quotes, things and people, cars, Gurus, etc...everything precious to George. We took it down to the Beatles Star again for the birthday tribute, along with candles of Rama and Krishna.
Whenever I am going to Hollywood, we bring a few flowers, too. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

A friend of mine introduced me to the music of George and became a fan instantly.
I was already listening to the Beatles from the age of eight.

Interesting Phil, I was about 7, so that's close to your introduction. May I ask which album or songs made you move to George instantly?
And welcome to Crackerbox Palace ofcourse, hope you like it here.

Thanx FPSHOT.
Well my introduction to the Beatles is from their early work. Like She Loves You and Help, etc. as for most of the fans I guess. It was after their break up- it must have been in the late seventies - I became more interested in their later work.
I guess I am one of the average fans of the Beatles and like most people I was probably more focused on the music of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, simply because their songs are very well known.
To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the music/work of George. But everybody makes minor mistakes in his life, don't they ? So, now that I'm introduced to his music I'm paying more attention and liking better every day. I couldn't just pick one song or album out just yet. Ask me again in a few weeks, ok ??

George: Honestly! Me mind boggles at the very idea, a grown man and you haven't shaved with a safety razor.
Shake: It's not my fault. I come from a long line of electricians.

Now that's what I call a tribute. Then you must be a long time Harrison fan. Well I hope you enjoy it here.

She loves you was my intro, I heared in on the radio on release date and just had to get it. Help is my favourite movie, I saw it in a theatre here where I live and still have the tickets.
Oh yes, don't believe there is anyone who does not make mistakes, even on the musical side. If I remember I'll ask again.
Thanks and enjoy the site.

I think I can honestly say there are two songs by now I really love:
I Live For You (especially the slide guitar)
and
Awaiting On You All
Could you tell me who's playing the slide guitar on 'I Live For You' ? I think it's absolutely brilliant !

Actually it is not a slide guitar what you refer to, it is a pedal steel guitar, played by Pete Drake.
You can also hear that one on e.g. Behind That Locked Door.
As you like Awaiting On You All, I would advise you to get hold of the bootleg recordings of this song, because the original demo's and the outtakes are brilliant. Some of them are available on downloading sites.

George had mentioned that Pete Drake had passed away, and one of the nice things about releasing the song as one of the bonus tracks, was in a way to pay tribute to him...that his family would appreciate this. He said that the original reason he had not released it was a feeling that prehaps it was a bit simple or nieve...I forget the word he used. Anyway, also, he felt that Drake was the only one who had gotten it "right". Pretty high accolades~ what an honor!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup2.gif
