This is amazing. Thanks SingingOm.
Look at the site, it has the complete lyrics (if any - Marwa Blues is instrumental) and the musicians again per song/track.
Dhani plays on most of the tracks, acoustic and electric guitar, and adds backing vocals.
From Any Road, Looking For My Life, Rising Sun, Stuck Inside A Cloud and Brainwashed you can hear short parts.
It sounds great and the lyrics have various subjects, God, Love, The World, Himself (down on my knees, wonder if he refers to the stabbing)

** The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali"
A version of this book by Swami Prabhavananda can be found at Amazon.com entitled: 'How to know God: The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali'
There is also a biography of Patanjali online, which i'll post later.

I do hope that the album will have some additional credits, because e.g. in "Rising Sun" there are violins (maybe from keyboard) and keyboards which are not mentioned. Anyway I may have missed something elsewhere.
Great material.
Any Road - would have been a Wilbury song probably if an album had followed, little If You Belonged To Me in it as I wrote before. Nevertheless, love the country-like electric guitar.
Looking For My Life - I love those many-guitars tracks, has great lyrics too, very personal. Dhani also on Electric.
Rising Son - For the moment my favourite.
Stuck Inside A Cloud - Close finish with Rising Son, listen to the guitars at the end of the pre-play. Dhani plays Wurlitzer (no it is not a sausage and not a beer, it's an electric piano)
Brainwashed - well here you can here what Jeff meant when he said he couldn't leave it to a demo. Very nice.
Well, us fans are being very well treated with all this.

I have this on my bookshelf! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif I have an older "Mentor" books edition, which has a different quote on page 130. I'll look for the quote George used. This is a great translation of Patanjali's works for many reasons...one of which is that it paraphases the Sutras soas to read better in English. Also, it draws it's interpretations from the Vedanta philosophy, with quotes from Vivekananda and Ramakrishna, both of which George loved to quote and refer to. I'll post a bit more about the book also, a bit later on this afternoon. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

There is some criticism posted at Abbey Road's newspage regarding the lyrics of two songs which refer to the Roman Catholic Church.
All I want to say is that I am disappointed that this one-person view is put on the News
site.
Having read now the original post at the Message Board, and those which followed, also from John, the original writer, it's certainly turned in another perspective.
In case you want to look http://www.xsorbit4.com/users2/abbeyrd/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&num=1033588167&start=30
I could have left it untouched but then someone else would have brought it up.

That guy is an idiot! I am very involved in the Hare Krsna movement, but there are still elements of ISKCON i disagree with quite strongly at times. Just as there is in any movement, church ot oganisation where PEOPLE come along, and change things against their or more specifically, God's intentions.. George felt the same way with Krsna conciousness. Its the problem with organised religion. Religions, are like "exclusive country clubs" and like to fool people into the false illusion they will be saved by becoming members! you can only do it yourself, it is a very personal thing..what part of the song "Brainwashed" does this guy not understand..sectarianism is his thing..Anyway, i wouldnt be surprised steve puts that sort of crap up on his page..a couple of months ago when i was doing the petiton to stop the release of George's attacker, i emailed steve to seek his help to put the information up on ANY of his pages, and he didnt put anything up, or even reply to me, so i think that says it all there..so i wouldnt be too worried about what he puts on his site. Its what he DOESNT put on his site..thanks steve!

Point taken - and agreed upon.
There are various comments now which Steve posted, so it will ease.
One nice one is a quote from George said in the Anthology book (page 26):
"I felt that there was some hypocrisy going on, even though I was only about eleveen years old. It seemed to be the same on every housing estate in English cities: on one corner they'd have a church and on the other cforner a pub. Everybody's out there getting pissed and then just goes in the church, says three Hail Marys and one Our Father and sticks a fiver in the plate. It felt so alien to me. Not the stained-glass window or the pictures of Christ; I liked that a lot, and the smell of the incence and the candles. I just didn't like the bullshit. After Communion, I was supposed to have Confirmation, but I thought, 'I'm not going to bother with that, I'll just confirm it later myself. From then on, I avoided the church, but every Thursday a kid would come round to herald the arrival of the priest. They'd go round all the streets, knock on the door and shout 'The priest's coming!' And we'd all go, 'Oh shit,' and run like hell up the stairs and hide. My mother would have to open the door and he'd say, 'Ah, hello Mrs. Harrison, it's nice to see you again, so it is. Eh be Jesus...' She'd stuff two half-crowns in his sweaty little hand and off he'd go to build another church or pub."

True! Very true! That is one thing very appealing about SRF & Yoganandaji...when you attend a service they draw from scriptures of all the various traditions, etc. There is no dogma, etc...one Brother recently said, "We don't give you a list of what is wrong and keep telling you what not to do. What we say is God Consciousness is Bliss. Once you meditate & attain this, the other pleasures pale by comparrison." Their focus is so much on Love~ the Two Great Commandments of Jesus~ and then meditation. Everything else then falls into place. It is bliss to be around the renuncients...they are just so in tune with God's love. No back biting or rulers to smack you with! LOL

I really found the viewpoints on Abbey Road kind of fascinating...of course, especially the above George quote! The part about running upstairs was hysterical! As the product of an Irish Catholic/Polish Catholic upbringing as well, I can absolutely relate to what George is saying. He began to question things at 11, I did at 12. There are wonderful things, traditions, within Catholicism. For example, the Creation theology movement, Liberation Theology movement, of course the mystic traditions. But, then unfortunately their are also those so dreddged in the rules that they lose sight of the mystical tradition, which was the whole point. I think the masses (ha) would do quite well to have more of that presented weekly in church, but maybe there is a feeling that it would lead to "liberal thinking"??? (The dreaded Liberal thinking!) It must be very cathartic for George to write this; it is cathartic to hear it~ just like REM years ago..."I think I thought I saw you try..." Think of the impact his leaving the family religion must have had on his life...it is a big decision for him to make. Especially at 11!

Abbey Road's newspage has a response from Louise, George Sister to the Catholic discussion.
Basically we were-- all four of us kids--baptized in the Roman Catholic church. Mostly because my (our) Mum was brought up and -- brainwashed-- as a Catholic. She had been trained to believe that our eternal future was at stake if we were NOT baptized in the catholic Church.
I was, at first christened in the Church of England -- shortly after I was born, by my paternal grandmother. When my brother Harold was born and was baptized in the Catholic church , I was taken along too, and at age 3, then became a Catholic. My parents , being kind, compassionate, sensible and open minded, brought us up to think for yourselves and ultimately make out own decisions regarding which way we wished to honor our Creator. I personally do not give much credibility to "organized religions", they are rather like political parties--out for their own agenda's. I believe what Jesus taught was very valid, but much of what He said, has over the past 2 centuries, been very much "misinterpreted & misunderstood.
But Steve neither I nor my brother are theologians, I am just giving my own thoughts and beliefs, and I urge people to "THINK MORE-- IF JUST FOR YOUR OWN SAKE" as George said in one of his songs. "Think for yourself."
Due to much study and research both George and I came eventually to understand that we are, ALL OF US, simply individual DROPs in the OCEAN which we call GOD. We are all of the same essence as our Creator, and whilst, in our Earthly lives we inhabit (or wear)fleshly bodies, and mostly tend to identify ourselves WITH THE BODY --we are actually Spiritual Beings, each individual drops of that ocean--havng an Earthly experience. Death is merely relinquishing the BODY, which we were wearing, and returning or reconnecting, back to that OCEAN, GOD, the source of our LIFE.
