View Full Version : Brainwashed Clip - You Must See This

Thanks to Flying, I found this VH1 clip which is referred to in the topic about Dhani on tv this morning.
Reason why I post this separately, again with great thanks to Flying, is that I am absolutely facinated by this 7.20 minute clip, which shows George, Dhani and Jeff talking about music. Jeff and Dhani talk about the album.
There are parts of some songs in the clip and the music of Brainwashed is FAB http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/clap1.gif .
The Single song is an absolute winner, could have been a Cloud Nine track.
Any Road is the upgraded version of the VH1 performance and sounds great, with many guitars and slide, sort of Wilbury.
Rising Sun has the Cloud 9 / Jeff-George sound and will surprise many.
'Between the devil' is the old bootleg, but this clip shows some of the original performance.
Jeff refers to the fact that George wanted the album to be most demo material and Jeff explains and apologies to George, that he made a little more of it. He also sais that Dhani was around in the studio mixing and finishing the album all the time and they could feel George being there.
"We heard every poaky Hoagy Carmichale song" Dhani sais about George walking in the house with the uke all the time.
He never wrote a song like I Love You, Jeff said about George's writing.
Indeed Dhani sais, the number 7 was George's favorite number, the single song is the number 7 of the album and Dhani's favorite.
George talks about his garden and about music.
I think he want to be remembered as a great musician, and.....a gardner, are Jeff's closing words.
FANTASTIC MATERIAL.
The album is a Masterpiece.

I'm so sad cos I have a problem and I can't see it! The video stops every 5 seconds and sometimes there is no picture - only sound. I tried again & again but it's not working for me. I have DSL so I don't think the speed is the problem. I think my Windows Media Player's not right.
Is there a way for me to watch the clip with Real Player?
Or does anyone have other suggestions? Please help! I want to see it badly!

This is the third time I've seen the clip today!!! It's awesome, breathtaking, and very, very moving. Very emotive for every Harrison fan. Dhani looks so cool, just like his dad around A Hard Day's Night. We can see a little bit of Friar Park and the recording studio... I NEED the limited edition with the DVD!!!!

try this:
when you're watching the clip ( or at least trying to), then click on it with the right mouse-key,
then "options",
then "advanced", "streaming media with real player"
this should work

I'm with you lucy i haven't been able to see it either. However I am perfectly content to listen to it for the 7th time now. Geez I haven't been this excited for a solo release since Double Fantasy came out way way back in 1980.

The opening of the Media Player can take some time.
It's so nice to see George in his gardens talking about life as we have been able to read from him already so many times.
You can see Jeff on guitar and Dhani on Uke, in Jeff's studio, which is a wonderful sight.
Looking at George, I believe that the filming was done over a period of about 2 years and the garden bit was in the last period, it's clear he looked older, tired.
Jim Keltner also speaks highly about George.
Dhani looks happy - the ladies will like what they see - and also seems to be becoming quite a musician and producer.

I don't know what you can do, maybe you can try to download it directly to your hard drive, so in stead of downloading it from that VH1 site, copy it.
I tried that, but it did not work for me.

media 9 worked for me too..wow, so great to see Dhani (in a gardeners's hat, George would be proud!) Jeff, and co (thats marc mann sitting at the controls)All the George stuff is new, but shot from the same sessions as the ATMP EPK footage, in very late 2000, where he was interviewed by Jools Holland and Dave Stewart (thats dave in the Golf caddy i think) Jools did the F.P.S.H.O.T.U.K part where he ran thru My Sweet Lord 2000 (nice to see it in colour, the ATMP EPK only featured it in b&w)and the outside stuff with the candles is great.. of course deep blue sea is from Mr Roadrunner, which aired in 92 (also featuring jools)Stuck inside a cloud is amazing, very, very special. I thought this before i had heard any of it, but Brainwashed is certainly going to be the best album ever released in my opinion (unless they put out vols 2 and 3 of course!)Big call, i know, but im expecting it..

Just finished watching the promo video. It was less than 10 minutes long, so I'm sure it's the exact same material that's already been described here. A few thoughts...
Dhani looks and sounds and acts so much like his dad it's scary, down to the thick eyebrows...
Is Jeff Lynne ever going to get a new look? He's had the same facial hair, curly mop top, and Ambervision glasses since like 1972...
George looked great in all of the clips. Maybe a little thin and tired, but definitely happy and smiling most of the time...
The new songs sound very cool and should make any Harrison fan happy and sadly wishing for more...

I just saw a clip last week of ELO, doing Showdown on Top Of The Pops, and his hair is shorter, but that's it.

"I remember coming in from England and recording guitars with Jeff the first night," Dhani recalls. "It was the most surreal thing ever. I kept turning around, looking for my dad - 'Er, is that all right?' And there's no one there to tell you."

Woops. I just opened up the box the tape came in, and I can see that the actual VHS tape isn't that long at all. So it's probably just the same clip you guys have all seen already. Sorry to get your hopes up. Oh well. But you're welcome to come over anyway.
