The tribute for George will resound not only within the Albert Hall but hopefully reach the spirit of the man so loved by his friends who will be performing and attending.

Thanks for the link FPSHOT. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup2.gif
I'd like to hear this version of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". Is it in WinMX?

"Music always had a transcendental quality inasmuch as it reaches parts of you that you don't expect it to reach. And it can touch you in a way that you can't express. You can think that it hasn't reached you and years later you'll find it coming out." George Harrison

Does anyone know more about "Shelter In Your Love" that George recorded with Alvin in the mid eighties. Someone recently gave me a copy of it and it was the first time I'd heard the song, though I knew of its existence for ages. Can anyone share any info relating to the song with me. Alvin doesn't mention it in the above link.

From what I know the track was recorded at FPSHOT December 1985, still unreleased.
I left a message at the official Alvin Lee Fanclub asking for more info.
Here is a link to a bootleg record with this song.

Wow, thats incredible FPSHOT!!! I love people who make the effort to connect with the fans.. Alvin sounds like a great guy, aswell as a brillinat guitar player, and really good friend to George. I'd love to hear "the elephant song" as i shall call it from now on, one day..

Amazing.
I put the question on the official Alvin Lee Message Board and look what I got via the webmaster; an answer by Alvin Lee himself.
Alvin has sent this answer:
"Yes I remember "Shelter of Your Love" but also in the vaults at Friar Park are recordings of "Army Bunk" and a song who's title I don't remember but the words went.....
Met an elephant from India who'd lost his mind
Got an autograph of Elvis but it was not signed
I remember George wanted to say" autograph of Hitler" but being as those two lines were mine I wouldn't let him."
He also adds that he doesn't remember if he actually played on Shelter on Your Love or was just there when it was recorded.

I have posted a thank you and have asked if it is possible that Alvin tells some more about his work with George.
And the discussion goes on now about George and Alvin http://pub43.bravenet.com/forum/show.php?usernum=3622225049

I want to get this thread back on after having read a small article about George working with Alvin Lee. BTW This was about Shelter In Your Love and in the meantime I got hold of the song.
It is a German magazine called Musik Express and goes back to mid 1974.
Alvin Lee was doing rehearsals for a European tour with his band Alvin Lee & Co. at his Space Studios.
Whilst they were rehearsing George called so when Alvin hung up the phone he sais "Big George is coming!!!"
So since George and Alvin lived close by, a few minutes later George drove up on the farm in a rather moderate BMW, and of course quite soon George got hold of a guitar and they started jamming. They played "Don't Be Cruel", "Going Through The Door", "Money Honey", "Writing You A Letter" and "Freedom For The Stallion". songs which they were playing Live at the time and also appear on the live album "In Flight".
George had worked with Alvin already on his 1973 album On The Road To Freedom doing So Sad with Mick Fleetwood (then probably still George's brother in law ) and Alvin had returned the favor by playing on some Splinter songs and of course on Ding Dong Ding Dong.
In the early next morning, George and Alvin were playing some songs together and George played some new songs, Far East Man, Maya Love and Bye Bye Love. Also Ding Dong Ding Dong where the magazine says that George got the melody from the Big Ben.
Then ........ the reporter was introduced to George's lady friend who he brought along of which the reporter was not allowed to mention the name :smile1: and quite soon George and his lady friend left.
There are some pictures in the studio and one in the kitchen here
