Im so excited i can barely contain myself!!! i only just found out!!! I cant understand why everyone here isnt raving 25 hours a day about it !!! seriously this is the very, very best news i have heard since the beatle reunion was "announced" in 1993..and we have been short on good news lately.. at last!!! i personally have been waiting for this since 1995, when George first announced he was "writing songs"!!! I cant wait to hear the first single "Stuck in a cloud" and the track listing..i hope there are several singles, videos, bonus tracks on the singles etc..My only worry is we havent heard anything about the reissues, boxsets, and other new material, so im hoping there will still be more to come..a brainwashed part 2 and 3!!! i guess it all depends on how well this album goes..i am ecstatic!! so lets start talking about it, a tracklisting can only be a few weeks away.. the cover on the album is probably "every grain of sand" but it could also be a new version of "abandoned Love" with Bob on it.. this is just all so exciting!!

I wonder what this song will be about? I remember with each George album, racing to the store, picking the record up to read the song titles....and just WONDERING the whole way home what they would each BE like! Finally, with "Gone Troppo", I could get the tape & record both right away and that way listen to the tape on the way home!! Oh, that was wonderful!!!
With "Somewhere In England" I so vividly remember listening to it for the first time. One of the most profound firsts because the song "Unknown Delight" was just so special. Much better even than "Beautiful Boy", IMPO, which is also precious.
With 33 1/3 my first listening was marred by a poor pressing! "Woman Don't You Cry for Me" AND "It's What You Value" both skipped!!
Grrrr.....

Come on Yogi, you being so well informed must have read posts about the forthcoming album.

But, now that it is set for release, I guess we all wonder what's on it, like some well known bootlegs.

Personally, I would be disappointed if some former bootlegs were on it, because I have most of them, if not all beside the Cloud Nine ones.

Still, I like what Jeff does to songs.

I remember getting Cloud Nine as a Xmas present, but when my parents went out one night I unwrapped the corner or the wrapping paper so I could slide out the record to listen to it. The sense of anticipation has only grown in the intervening 15 years. I would worry too much about the other reissues and boxed sets, Maharishi, I'm sure they'll arrive in due course. I am just looking forward to this being a tenth fully- fledged album. Although I expect the cover to be Every Grain, I am excited to hear that there's an Abandoned Love with Dylan. That would be too good to be true.

We have been talking about it! There've been quite a few posts. I think most people are just enjoying the anticipation & rather than make a bunch of assumptions or running wild with it, we're just waiting to get our mitts on it. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink2.gif

Glad you got the news! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Here again is a little bit from the Timothy White interview with George, discussing the new album. Kind of nice to reread this, thinking of hearing it so soon!!

"Well, I say that everybody knows they're all being brainwashed, by everything. So in my music, I just sing a rock 'n' roll song about the power of love on "Valentine," or about the eternal river that keeps flowing through this area near my home in "Pisces Fish," or I sing (quoting from his new song, "Brainwashed"), "God, God, God, won't you lead us through this mess?!"

And the lyrics for "Every Grain of Sand", for those who don't have it~
Every Grain of Sand
Bob Dylan
In the time of my confession,
in the hour of my deepest need
When the pool of tears beneath my feet
flood every newborn seed
There's a dyin' voice within me
reaching out somewhere,
Toiling in the danger and in
the morals of despair.

Don't have the inclination to
look back on any mistake,
Like Cain,
I now behold this chain of events
that I must break.
In the fury of the moment
I can see the Master's hand
In every leaf that trembles,
in every grain of sand.

Oh, the flowers of indulgence
and the weeds of yesteryear,
Like criminals,
they have choked the breath
of conscience and good cheer.
The sun beat down upon the steps
of time to light the way
To ease the pain of idleness
and the memory of decay.

I gaze into the doorway of
temptation's angry flame
And every time I pass that way
I always hear my name.
Then onward in my journey
I come to understand
That every hair is numbered
like every grain of sand.

I have gone from rags to riches
in the sorrow of the night
In the violence of a summer's dream,
in the chill of a wintry light,
In the bitter dance of loneliness
fading into space,
In the broken mirror of innocence
on each forgotten face.

I hear the ancient footsteps like
the motion of the sea
Sometimes I turn, there's someone there,
other times it's only me.
I am hanging in the balance
of the reality of man
Like every sparrow falling,
like every grain of sand.

God, it's so great that there's a song on here that I share with George http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/heart1.gif. "Pisces http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/fish.gif". That is just so-o-o-o damn awesome for me and my fellow fine gilled George fans. Hey, I'm Ma"gill"! Coincidence? I think NOT! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/nono.gif

A tiny bit more news...apparently, a portion of the proceeds from the album will go to charity.
