Robben Ford is indeed the blues guitaris you refer to.
Here is an interview with him about his career, where he refers to being in the LA Express, and playing with George.
http://www.digitalinterviews.com/digitalinterviews/views/ford.shtml
He played with the LA Express, which has had various line-ups, like one with Joni Mitchell.
Regarding the 1974 tour also know as the "Dark Hoarse Tour", I only know of some sites which have the schedule of the tour and the set list, like
http://www.willy.msk.ru:8085/beatles/harrison/html/live74.htm
including some pictures
some pictures here
http://www.angelfire.com/on2/glasshouse/georgetribute.html
This is a nice one, it has the tour schedule, but also has links to contents and pictures of the many bootleg sleeves which in some cases are pictures of the show.

Yeah, he's the same fellow! He's the cool California dude! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink1.gif ~ playing with not only George, but Joni Mitchell and now even Phil Lesh. Oh, also, he was on Bob's "Under the Red Sky" (...but not on George's one song on that). Still, pretty cool, huh? That CD has many amazing folks!!
I have some links~
http://www.digitalinterviews.com/digitalinterviews/views/ford.shtml
That is an interview where he mentions George.
And here is one with his wife~ http://www.annekerryford.com/interv.htm
And the cool thing about his wife is that she played on "Days of Our Lives" (the soap opera) with a fellow Michael Storm ("Dr Larry") whos TV we now have, which means...we know Michael who knows Anne who knows Robben who knows George!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Wow! (Of course anyone is welcome to come view our TV for a nominal fee http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink1.gif )

Oh, and i had forgotten Robben was on the "Red Sky" album!!..alot of people dont like that one, but it has always been one of my favourite dylan albums..Bob, George, Crosby, stevie ray. Robben..and slash..actually i was reading a thing today where slash said he was dissapointed with bob, but amazed because he got to meet George , who played some "(expletive) Amazing slide guitar" on under the red sky..

Thanks, but Google.com takes you to a lot of places.
In April /64 The Beatles in their first worldwide television special ("Around the World With The Beatles") invited Long John to perform " I Got My Mojo Workin' " for that landmark broadcast.
Got it from http://www.johnbaldry.com/aboutljb.asp
This year, Mike McCartney did something with Long John at Mike's photographic exhibition, read the story here http://www.gov.ab.ca/acn/200203/11999.html
Klaus Voormann played with LJB as well.
Long John also played at the Cavern and you will know he was in band with Rod Stewart and Elton John.
Slash; is that the Hairy guy from Guns & Noses? George once made a comment about that band when asked what he thought of today's music.
He said about their 'Knocking On Heaven's Door' something like "They didn't even get the chords right".

This what he said
Paul Cashmere: Have you heard Guns 'n' Roses "Knocking on Heaven's Door"?
George Harrison: Yeah, didn't even get the chords right, did they?
Paul Cashmere: So I take it you're not a big fan of that one, then?
George Harrison: There's only three chords in it, but they managed to get one of them wrong. (Laughs)
