I don't know if this is true, but Abbey Road reports that Koch Records, Ringo's new label, has a tribute disc to George in the planning stages.

Line up is supposed to be

Julian Lennon "My Sweet Lord"
Bill Wyman's Rhythm King's "Taxman"
Dave Davies "Not Guilty"
Marc Ford "I, Me, Mine"
Peter Frampton "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
Bonnie Bramlett "Something"
Heart "Wah Wah"
Todd Rundgren "Cloud 9"
The Smithereens "If I Needed Someone"
Chrissie Hynde "????"
Midge Ure "Here Comes The Sun"
Masters Of Reality "Devil's Radio"
Wayne Kramer "It's All Too Much"
They Might Be Giants "Savoy Truffle"
Violent Femmes "Got My Mind Set On You"

Every time he touches you his hair stands up on end
His legs begin to quiver and his mind begins to bend
Oh baby, you're such a tasty treat
But I'm under doctor's orders, I'm afraid to overeat

I'd like to have seen Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne or Bob Dylan do something on there. Midge Ure & Heart???

I haven't heard anything anything from Midge Ure since the "Dear God" song in the mid-80s. Wasn't sure he was still alive!

If the rumor is true, it'll be an interesting cd.

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure if I'll buy it though. I've got this aversion to cover versions of Beatles and solo-Beatles work.

There is some updated information subject to copyright at Abbey Road's newspage so just link yourself to the news of August 14.

Julian's cooperation is quenstionable and of of the bands mentioned has denied working on it, but another source from Canada mentions October as release month AND the (probable)title of the album.

"George ; just days after arriving - I believe that I have already extended my life by 20 years. I believe there are bodies up here in the Himalayas who have lived for centuries. There is one somewhere who was born before JC and is still living now.
John ; The way George is going, he will be flying on a magic carpet by the time he is 40."
