I agree with your statement
indeed!! In fact, lately my favorite George
album has been Living in the material world. I tend to shift off from that to All
Things Must Pass; but to me, there's something about the brilliance of certain
songs on "Living in" that when I come back
to it if I haven't heard in a while, really
make an impression on me and sometimes even
shed a tear or two-- some of those songs
would definitely be "The light that has
lighted the world", "The day the world gets
'round" and "That is all". So melodic and
emotional I say! So since my present fav.
George album is "Living in",etc. I'll go
with "Give me Love-(Give me peace on Earth)".
But "Something" is right up there too...

So... put your hands together for our winner. 8-4 it was, but we have a definitive winner on the survivor:
HERE COMES THE SUN

Thanks, cousin. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif Always glad to help, and always good to do a George album survivor. Even when it was such a hard one to do. My song didn't win, but "Here Comes The Sun" is a well-deserved winner. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

I am also glad that this song made #1, cause whyle my guitar and my sweet lord seem so obvious.
Here comes the sun from THE album is not only so good because of the guitars, but was also one of the first recordings with the Moog which was introduced by George. The use of a synthisizer became as common as we use PC's now which at the early days was also considered to be a temporary thing.

After playing slide on 'Love Letters' by Bill Wyman, the next expected guest appearance is on Jim Capaldi's 'Anna Julia' to be released September next.

George was a very qualifyed keyboardist, I think. I also think that song (which is my favorite Harrisong while with the Beatles, by the way), was recorded without John in the studio, because he was at the Hospital after suffering from an accident with Yoko and Kyoko. So all of the excellent acoustic guitar work is also made by George. Plus the bass line is amazing (as in the whole album... "Abbey Road" could easily be the greatest moment of Paul's bass playing) and Ringo's drumming... I don't know, they sound great as a trio. Somehow I think that could still work, although it would not be The Beatles.
But that's another discussion, and I'm glad "Here Comes The Sun" won this Survivor. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Agree fully about the bass line and the drumming, listen to it and you recongize it is not just an ordinary bass and drum part.

Darkhorse, don't know what to think of this, I don't even like tonic. How should we interpretate 'funny'? As in 'naughty' or as in 'what a bunch of rubbish these guys write'

Apr 16 1990 - George appears in Jim Capaldi's video for ‘Oh Lord, Why Lord.' George had done backup for the same song on Capaldi's album ‘Some Come Running.' The video was the only promo video shown at the Nelson Mandela concert at Wembley.
