'this one came about during the time I tried recording When Every Song Is Sung with Cilla Black. Later I tried to write her a B side and I thouht 'how do I relate to Cilla'. Well she was from Liverpool and had left Liverpool the same way I had, and that experience you have when you first make it, everyone is pleased - local boy/girl makes good - but once you leave they say 'he is changed, he is not what he used to be'. So I started with that idea;

I've heard how some people
have said that I've changed

and then it turned into this song. By that tim I had forgotten all about doing Cilla's reord and we didn't have an A side, so I used it on my own album.

The strange thing about the change is that pople are always sayin 'oh he is changed' as if change is a sin, but the whole of life is a change; from the morning to the evening, from spring to winter, from birth to life everything is a change.
So it is funny how people won't accept change, preffering almost to rearrange nature itself. Would they rather everything were stuck in one place forever?

You can worry your life away with
Not knowing what each new day may bring to you
Or take each day as it goes on
Wake up to the love that flows on, around you.

In these strange moments of confussion and concern about George's health, the lyrics and the content of this song might remind us where is George's strength to face life's problems. Actually, this song opens a window for us to see George's perception of the world. I listened to it last night and it was really a big emotion. Those who have the album, listen to it. Those who can download it, do it. It's a good thing to listen to George himself in these hard times.

I've hear how some people have said that I've changed
That I'm not what I was, how it really is a shame
The thoughts in their heads manifests on their brow
Like bad scars from ill feelings they themselves arouse

So hateful of anyone that is happy or "free"
They live all their lives without looking to see
The light that has lighted the world

It's funny how people just won't accept change,
As if nature itself, they prefer re-arranged
So hard to move on when you're down in a hole
Where there's so little chance to experience soul.

I'm grateful to anyone that is happy or "free"
For giving me hope while I'm looking to see
The light that has lighted the world"

"Living In The Material World" is, anyway, a great album. And "That Is All". http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

[/B][/QUOTE] Well said-- I don't think I
could've stated it better. It's a hope also
that all the remaining Beatles will read
what many of us have posted at Beatlelinks.net, in that I think there's
alot of good insight as well as emotion
in many of these postings(!)..

Was just thinking about a possible compilation made by one of us, to be sent to the address where one can send George get-well cards etc. to as mentioned on the Abbey Road newspage.

Sounds as if it might be a nice idea - but what do you mean? I'm feeling quite dumb today. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dork1.gif

In case you feel like that tomorrow as well;

E.g. I- or someone else for that matter - can make a compilation of various reactions we wrote regarding George's health condition and the news around it like the gossips, by printing those and put it in a map e.g. with a nice sleeve, send it to the address given at Abbey Road's newspage, so maybe, just maybe, George (or Olivia/Dhani) gets to readit and even comment on it out here.

The address btw (it's Apple) can be found here http://www.geocities.com/abbeyrdwebmaster/news/709georgenewcancer.html

Got it now?

It is a very nice idea FPSHOT. However, if you don't mind I would prefer if you left me out of it. (Not that I said anything worth quoting anyway.)

Dear cousin, we'd love to have your valuable input into that, if we ever do it. Please re-think about it. (Not that I'm trying to invade your privacity or anything, just we'd really appreciate your support into that) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I really like this song. I think Living in the Material World is a great album, but it gets overlooked sometimes.

The album 'Living in the Material World' was on my record player all the time back in the 70ties.

FPSHOT: Did you ever sent that compilation you were talking about?

I did not do that in the end but I am thinking about doing it regarding either the memorial posts round November 29 and/or regarding Brainwashed.

That's a really nice idea. I hope Olivia and Dhani still know how daily people think of them and send love their way. Dhani worked so hard on the CD, now he must have more time to think about things...it would be a nice "we love you" for him.

I am not sure which song this is that you quoted, FP. Please tell.

And thank you all for this thread and the information! I hope Olivia and Dhani do know just how deeply we all feel.

It is such a great LP/CD. In an interview, Symasundara (an ISKCON buddy of George's) said that this whole record was so infused with ISKCON's & Prabhupada's philosophy, which seems true to my ears also!! images/icons/smile.gif In many ways, it is so very special. This song being discussed is one of the lesser known songs on it, along with The Day the World Gets Round and Be Here Now, which are some of George's very best!
