George's slide guitar is the most beautiful and emotive music I can listen to.
I think my favourite examples are:

My Sweet Lord (of course - hands down)- ATMP
Just For Today - Cloud 9
Beautiful Girl - 33 1/3
Blow Away - G.H.
Your Love is Forever - G.H.
That's What It Takes - Cloud 9
This Is Love - Cloud 9

Maybe I've missed some good ones.

I've long admired his work on "Real Love".

------------------
This week, the Beatles greatest hits album, "1", is at number forty-nine on the USA album charts. "Wingspan: Hits and History" by Paul McCartney is at number fifteen.

"Cockamamie Business", I like that one... Yes his work on "Real Love" is amazing.

There are many examples but I can think of the following 'out of the blue'

Unknown Delight
It don't come easy
How do you sleep
I'd have you anytime
The light that has lighted the world
Leave a light on- Belinda Carlisle

------------------
Seven naked native girls swam seven sacred pools . . .
Lone-ranger smoking doobies said you're breaking all the rules . . .
You'd better get your clothes on or else there'll be a row . . .
If it wasn't for my sunstroke I would take you on right now . . .
And I'm still smiling.

How about some of John's other solo work? Is that George on 'Stand By Me' and '#9 Dream'?

'Handle with Care' I like too.

Nope, not George...

On "Stand by me" it's John himself. I'm not sure who played slide on "#9 Dream" but it was not George. I'll take a look at it for ya "when I get home".

The guitar were played by Jesse Ed Davis. Acoustic guitars were played by Eddie Mottau and Dr. Dream.

All are EXCELLENT choices, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose "Blow Away!"

Run so far with EC
Day after day - Badfinger
Saltwater - Julian, even though someone else finally played that solo.
King of borken hearts - Ringo

I've been listening to 'MSL2000' because it is his last song and because that fits the melancholy mood that is overtaking me at times. If you just forget about the original for a bit and listen to '2000' on its own merits it is great. His slide in it is so good. I'm finding the whole thing quite the little tear-jerker.

And to add George's slide on Down and Out by Ringo.

I just heard a live Clapton cut of the standard, "Smile". In the middle he says something like, "OK, George," and then there is a wonderful slide solo that sounds like Mr. Harrison.
He must have made a guest appearance at a Clapton gig. Can you imagine that?

When do you think this happened?

I don't think it was that recent. It was on a live cd i once borrowed and copied to cassette. I recently found the cassette and the cd was from somebody that I used to work with but no longer do.
I think it was recorded in the mid 80's.
Has anyone else heard this?

George has made some guest appearances during EC concerts, e.g. playing on Badge.

The album you probably have is called Eric Claton Timepieces Volume 8 Live in the seventees, which is a compilation of some concerts and the album includes Smile.

Eric says Take It Away George and indeed it sounds like a slide solo by our George, although George Terry is also playing guitar on this album.

I will look for further details.

The track list btw is

1.Tulsa Time
2.Knockin' on Heaven's Door
3.If I Don't Be There by Morning
4.Rambling on My Mind
5.Presence of the Lord
6.Can't Find My Way Home
7.Smile
8.Blues Power

------------------
After playing slide on 'Love Letters' by Bill Wyman, the next expected guest appearance is on Jim Capaldi's 'Anna Julia' to be released September next.

I think that 'Distance Makes No Difference with Love' belongs on this list. It has a very special slide piece.
