Ran into a guy named Jeff Healey on a net radio station. Blues station. He did While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The guitar solo was different. He picked it, not slide. I liked it.

I've heard him. Blind guy he's a phenomenal player. He was in a movie playing blues slide in a club scene. Forget the movie , though.

Maybe he was sliding if he's a blues slider. Sounded like picking to me. I'm no expert though.

He picks with his fingas. Ooha

Jeff Healy had an 80s hit with "Angel Eyes" but you have failed to mention so far that George is ACTUALLY playing WITH Jeff on Healy's version of "Weeps"... George is playing acoustic guitar however so as Hari would say about the acoustics "They're felt more than they are heard".

I love this version by Jeff Healy.
I would not know another cover of this song which I like more.
Maybe because to me it comes so close to the Bangla Desh performance.
Just great.
I've seen the movie, indeed, good when you have a remote control stand by.

I agree, it is a very good version of the song. The only version of While my Guitar, I have heard were George does some of the lead work is the Live in Japan take, were he shares it with Eric Clapton, is that correct?

There have been shared guitar leads (duels) like on the Bangla Desh Concert during
the Live in Japan performances,
the 1974 tour,
I believe the Royal Albert Hall show with Gary Moore,
the 1987 Prince's Trust (with some of the Cloud 9 band - Eric, Elton, Jeff, Ringo - and Phil Collins)
and some guest appearances, I even believe he played with Jeff Healy once. Will try to find some more info.

I would have loved to have seen footage of him playing that song and doing some of the lead work, it's too bad there is not a DVD of the Live in Japan concert. I have the Carl Perkins DVD and it is so great to actually see him play, man he was good!

You can download the Prince's Trust performance of the song at WinMX - it is great !! - and if you're lucky you will also find a Live In Japan one although the quality of those Japan mpg's is not that good.
