For those who are looking for George CD's, take a look here, I have mentioned this site before, but I saw that there are some new ones for sale.

Don't ask m about the quality, but I remember that when Erek's Beatles page was still open, Erek was very positive about CD's from Russia.

A very impressive site there. "Tons" of CDs and videos to choose from. I'd have to set aside an entire day just to look over everything there. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Yep, bough that one not long after it came out (on vinyl). Actually, CD's became popular just as I was completing my (vinyl) album collection... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry6.gif

Even though I had "Gone Troppo", "Wake up my love" & "That's the way it goes" on "The best of Dark Horse: volume 2" CD, it bugged me that I had all his CD's exept that one... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry6.gif

Always loved "Circles" and the intro to "I really love you". I've recently re-discovered "Dream away" having only recently gotten arround renting "Time Bandits" (cool movie, love Sean Connery and the dwarfs !). Not having played the album in a while (my turntable is kaput) I'll probably get re-aquainted with some of the other songs...

Finally ! I'll have all of them (including "Wonderwall", "The Radha Krishna Temple" album (or whatever it's called) exept "Electronic sound"....I've heard it...& I don't want it !
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/nono.gif

Now, if George can get arround to releasing his new album...+ I want a new Wilbury's album for X-Mas !
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/santa4.gif

P.S.: Nice to here from you Blue Moon !

On Gone Troppo, I have a version of Circles which is called the LSD Psychedelic version. It is the same song, but with organ and bass only and the sound going 'in circles' round and round.

Do you know that one.

You are so right, on e.g. Beatles Conventions in Europe there are many to get but illegal, and the other reason I guess is the MP3 circulation.

Normal buying in shops mostly gets you in discussions like ' George who?' like during ATMP.

Yet, it's what you value.

Guess what I got in the mail Wednesday..?
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thinker.gif

Yep, my "Extra texture/Gone troppo" CD. It took less than a week to get here ! Talk about fast, I guess they must have put the CD on an old Sputnik and sent it on a sub-orbital flight set to land in front of my door ! Sound quality ? Maybe my mind & ears are playing tricks on me but I could swear the sound is actually better than on my "standard copies" of "Extra texture" & "Best of Dark Horse Vol. 2" (for the "Gone Troppo" songs).
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I mentioned recently that I liked the intro to "I really love you". Well, after playing it for the first time in years (& the first time on CD) I've changed my mind...I LOVE THE INTRO AND THE REST OF THE SONG AS WELL ! The "ahhhh-ahhhh-ahhh-ahhh's" sound so good, beautiful harmonies ! Great to hear "Circles", "Mystical one" & "Dream away" sounding so crisp and clear !

I have also ordered "Old wave" & "Scouse the Mouse" by Ringo & the Wilburys "Volume 4 1/2". "Old wave", same story as "Gone troppo" (have it on vinyl + some of the songs on a CD compilation). "Scouse the Mouse" I have never heard so I'm looking quite forward to that !
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/bouncing1.gif

"Volume 4 1/2" is a bootleg (shhhh, don't tell George) featuring some un-released TW's tracks and stuff like Orbison's "Heartbreak radio" (on witch Jeff Lynne worked on). Again, with some help from my good friend FPSHOT, I have almost all the songs from that one but I prefer having them on an actual album.

Weird having two albums per CD. Like "Extra texture/Gone troppo" with only the two pictures from "ET" and inexact credits: "all songs written by GH" (he did'nt write "I really love you") + they don't credit George for playing mandoline on "Mystical one" or keyboards foe "Circles" but heck, you can't have everything. "Volume 4 1/2" is coupled with Petty's "Full moon fever". My brother is thrilled with this 'cos since I already had all of the "2nd albums" I'm giving him the original CD's I already had.

Just got my "Traveling Wilburys Vol. 4 1/2" from the link at the top of this thread. Cool, awesome, great, yahoo !
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/bouncing1.gif

Exept for two, I already had all of the songs, thanks in large part to FPSHOT.

"Born in time" sung by Dylan (good but not quite as good as "Tweeter and the monkey man" ,"Dirtyworld" or any of his other work with the TW's. Pretty good lyrics/images though...

The other one has me really blown me away ! It's the TW's cover of Del Shannon's "Runaway" (always loved his version). It had been released on the CD single for "She's my baby" but only in the U.K. (gee, I wonder why we have bootlegs and Napster, eh ?).
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thinker.gif

Heavy guitars on the intro (a bit like "She's my baby" with the rythm of Orbison's "Heartbreak radio"). Nice lead vocals by Jeff and guess who duets with him through most of the song...George ! Tom joins in for the "Run-run-run-run-runaway" bits (can't make out if Bob contributes vocaly). Nice piano (probably by Jeff) matching the piano line from Del's version.
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

And the solo..! Remember how Del's version is credited as being the first Rock'n Roll song to have a keyboard solo (or one of the first) ? Well, no keyboard solo for the TW's version...a terific accoustic (almost Spanish) guitar solo. Guitar only for the first half or so and then good 'ol Bob comes in on harmonica !
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

My one complaint about this song,
why did'nt they do a thirty minute version ?
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dance.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dance.gif

At the risk of repeating myself,
thanks for the link FSHOT

About the above mentioned CD,
only one or two little...
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/nono.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/nono.gif

As with the other CD's I've ordered from this company, there are two albums on the same CD. In this case, Tom Petty's "Full moon fever" & the Wilburys' "Vol. 4 1/2". But on the CD case it says that it's the TW's "Vol. 2" & "Vol. 4 1/2". And it lists Dylan's "Born in time" as "Bone in time" (rather suggestive, no ?).

The album does not have TW's outakes, "Like a ship" and "Maxine". But they do have songs like "Cheer Down", "You got it", "Heartbreak radio", "Under the red sky" and "I'm gone" although these are not TW songs per say even though they all have one (or more Wilbury) on each. For someone like me and most (if not all) of you on this site, that might not be such a big deal ('cos we know what is what or where to look it up). But for the more un-advised CD buyer they would think that all these songs are actually TW songs.

Best example: on this album they have "The troubler". In fact, it's "The trembler" from a Duane Eddy album (featuring George, Jeff & Jim Keltner).

To end on a happy note "I'm trying to make concrete float...". Remember I had said that the sound quality seemed better on these CD's than on the original ones. Well, it definately is ! I had played "Full moon fever" many times over the years but when I put my new CD on, the accoustic guitar on "Free falling" and the snare drum on "I won't back down" are clearer & crisper than ever !

P.S.: "BaltCD" = speedy delivery (1 week) and good service (order confirmation by E-mail + advised me when the got new products...but only when they were related with my prior purchases).
