It is a wellknow fact that Hari spends quite some time at the Formula 1 races and is an appreciated friend and guest.

Is anyone here also a regular visitor or a fanatic who e.g. reads in F1-magazines about this guy strolling around all these top-drivers.

I'm sure Tim would be well suited to answer that. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I love watching the F1 too whenever it's on, I'd have to say Schumacher would be my favourite driver and Ferrarri the favourite team.

I haven't watched much auto racing of any kind lately. But the Indianapolis 500 is this weekend! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I sometimes just like to watch, but apart from Jos Verstappen, Shumacher I don't know anyone or anything about it, I know that there's some kind of race going on now but I have no idea what's about.
Just saw some old footage of Jack Steward, and some kind of party for Jack which has Ringo as a guest!

George to Paul during the Get Back session when it was less tense.
"When you write a song,I completly go into it, I feel as if I wrote it.There's so much music to get out, and there no-one better to get it out with then us"

Monaco is also on this weekend I believe. That's a little more than just 'driving round in circles' like Indianapolis. Other than the speed thing I never understood why Indianapolis is so popular.

Because it's like the 'Mecca' of Indy racing, if you like.

I am a BIG F1 fan ! And yes, I have seen George in the pits before the races (on television). He usually hangs arround with Jackie Stewart but the last time he was seen at race, earlier this year, he was with David Coulthard (Mclaren pilot). He even was in Montréal at last year's race. And I think it was in Silverstone (England) a few years back, George was there with Ringo.

Can't remember wich race it was when he was with Coulthard. But when they showed him on screen the (Montréal) comentator (a very good one by the way...) noticed him and started saying how he himself was a big Beatles fan and always got excited anytime he saw one of "them"...he then mentioned that George had recorded a song ("Faster") about the "F1 circus" as they often call it.

One thing I've wondered about. Just before they pack up to leave town, the pilots & technicians often have parties and have jams (Couthard plays drums, Jacques Villeneuve plays guitar...). I wonder if George has ever joined in...

"Faster than a bullet from a gun..."

Coulthard had a bad start yesterday in Monaco, he must have wanted to go Faster.

I know of one occasion where George did a gig with some F1 friends, I will look it up.

George has been to the Australian Grand Prix on a number of occasions... in 1993 & 1995 when it was in Adelaide, and in Melbourne in 1997 (where he also played piano and sang for 2 hrs at the Crown Casino)... I'm quite sure he's been in more recent years too, I read that he makes an annual pilgrimage to Melbourne just to watch the racing (and the Brits in action).

I do have a picture from Hockenheim in 94 of George, and know he does still have a close friendship wuth Emerson Fittipaldi.

He sure does, they attend a lot of races together. On Oct 31 1996 Brazil's SBT-TV's 'Gente Que Brilha,' aired an episode dedicated to Emerson who had been seriously injured in a racing accident at the time. In a video taped especially for this show, George sang a homage to his friend 'Emmo' using the tune of 'Here Comes The Sun.'
