BBC reports that George has had surgery for lung cancer in the US.

But has made an "excellent recovery", according to a statement from his solicitors.

George had the treatment to remove a cancerous growth from one of his lungs.

The statement said the operation in Rochester, Minnesota, had been completely successful.

Hari is now recovering in Tuscany, Italy with his wife Olivia.

The statement said: "George Harrison recently underwent an operation on one of his lungs at the Mayo Clinic in the US.

"He is in the best of spirits and on top form - the most relaxed and free since the attack on him in 1999. He is now enjoying a holiday in Tuscany."

Making reference to the star's re-released album, the statement continued: "Although All Things Must Pass Away, George has no plans right now and is still Living In The Material World, and wishes everyone all the very best.

"God bless and not to worry."

'Warning'

The star was treated for throat cancer in 1997 after he found a lump on his neck, which he described at the time as "a warning".

He had surgery in August that year, followed by two courses of radiation therapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Britain's leading cancer treatment centre.

He later said: "I got it purely from smoking. I gave up cigarettes many years ago, but had started again for a while and then stopped in 1997.

Well friends, it looks like George is feeling stronger everyday.

If it's HIM, tell him I said "Hey". If it's just somebody stupid like a prime minister of Croatia or something, tell him I said "You're not George!" and stomp off.

I'm still feeling a little shattered about this. I'm trying to share everyone's confidence that 'all is well'.
If you see him Rob - tell him - visit this board - that he's got some good friends here. (Mind you - doesn't sound like George to let himself be 'prize exhibit' at some function.)

I feel that George's phylosofic thinking gets him through this.

The news is a shock ofcourse, but it being successful is great.

Give him some time to recover now. He probably will move on, having known this operation was coming and still being in various places, races mainly, gives me confidence.

Ofcourse he will not be at my business conference, but I have time to visit Toscany, so you never know if I just happen to see him.

God speed to George on his recovery. He was in good hands. The Mayo Clinic is the best place he could have gone to treat him.

It's been a tough few years for Hari.

Hey "Old Moon", nice to see you here as well !

Article about George's operation in this morning's paper. Nothing that "FPSHOT" has'nt already reported. There is a picture of George & Olivia in Tuscany though... He definitely looks frail (who would'nt after all he's been through recently...) but, yes, he does seem in good spirits...

Get well Spike, and may Peace be with you...

My heart goes out to George! He's sure been through alot in the last 5-6 years! I'm so thankful to God that he's still with us. I truly hope that George is doing well & that he is in good spirits.
Funny how someone we don't know personally means so much to us! I wish him well & hope that he can just kick back, relax, laugh & enjoy the rest of his life! As always, my thoughts & prayers are with him & his family - as with John, Paul & Ringo!

I perfectly agree. And FPSHOT, thank you for the web sites.

It is interesting that someone most of us have never met and don't know personally has enriched and influenced many lives.

I have seen nothing of George having leukemia.

George in I Me Mine; 'I met Kissinger and Ford. Ford was very friendly, Kissinger looked like an Arab, talked like a German and was tanned all over, like Clark Gable, he was a bit like Charlie Chaplin, like a Rutle.

George with leukemia? No way. Leukemia knows better than to mess with a Beatle.
