Can anyone shed some light as to how George ended up in Belinda Carlisle's recording studio in 1987 and added slide guitar to her hit "Leave A Light On"???? This is a very odd pairing to me but it sounds wonderful. If you haven't heard it or forgotten about it, seek it out and check out his blistering slide guitar solo in the middle! It's George all right!

http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thinker.gif I haven't found anything on this except that "Leave A Light On" was the first track from Belinda Carlisle's LP Runaway Horses, which was released in 1989.

Very surprising that there is hardly anything about this. Not even in After The Break-up.

What I remember reading back then is that George just recorded his solo at FPSHOT and sent it to the USA for further mixing.

As he e.g. also did for some others, like Sylvia Griffin (who???)

He also added bass and 12 string accoustic on the track Deep Deep Ocean, from the same album Runaway Horses.

Will keep looking though.

This IS mysterious!

Not to knock Belinda but she just doesn't seem to be the first one that comes to mind that a 'Be-AT-tal' would assist in the studio. Granted George's slide solo raises the song to a higher level.

Like I said, somehow he ended up assisting with parts of the "Runaway Horses" album of Belinda's...credited too, from what I recall.

Anyone else got the lowdown on how this pairing came about? Thanks for your detective work up to now, FPSHOT!

Must have been some way she seduced... er.... got him to play for her. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/devil1.gif

That slide guitar solo blows me away everytime I here it, yes it lifts the song to an higher level, it's the best part of it.
Don't have any info on how George came in contact with Belinda tho.

I did put some posts on Belinda sites and got some reply but nothing more than what we already wrote.

It seems George knows the producer, this producer advised Belinda, she called Hari, he said OK, he recorded his bits on the two songs at FPSHOT and it was combined.

I thought I had read what I wrote on the newer topic, here! It was quite some time ago, though.
Should we continue to post here or there, or do we just continue with each?

It's your show Savoy Truffle, but indeed, we should not have two samelike, so I suggest we leave this one, not close it, and continue on the other one.
