As a person who hasn't heard of any of George's solo work, what would be the best albums to buy or songs to d/l?

My faves are "All Things Must Pass" & "Cloud Nine". Both are different from each other, but have alot of great tracks!

"All Things Must Pass" shouldn't be missing from any Beatlemaniac's music collection. I agree, "Cloud Nine" is a whole other story, but a good one as well.

Along with ATMP and Cloud 9, you should check into these LPs:
33 & 1/3, George Harrison, Somewhere In England and The Concert For Bangla Desh.

Songs to d/l include:
"Blow Away", "This Song", "All Those Years Ago", "Crackerbox Palace" and "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)".

The compilation album Best Of Dark Horse may be good as well, because there you have the mixes of some solo albums.

33 1/3 and George Harrison are certainly good albums, ATMP is a must and Cloud Nine is the last.

These I would advise.

But Dark Horse has many good songs and Living In The Material World should be in a catalogue. Gone Troppo is a 'happy'album. Extra Texture is very good.

Well that's about all, so hard to choose.

My favorite ones would be "ATMP" and "Cloud 9" but for somebody starting out I'd reccomend his two compilation albums, very wide range of music & it even includes some of his better Beatle material.

"Dark Horse", as a song, is also a great choice. Lovely flutes, great vocal (even with the "hoarse" http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif).

And it also has the lyric that I'm using as a signature for this month:

------------------
"I'm a dark horse
Running on a dark race course"

What I remember from that song is that when I first heared the song (right after release ofcourse) I did not yet know what a Cool Jerk was.

I love the sleeve with George and Peter Sellers walking together.

This week, the Beatles' greatest hits album, "1", is at number thirty-three on the USA album charts.

The song? It's a great one... The lyrics are pretty obscure and great. And that George vocal that was so criticised at the time gives it more charm. Download it, if you can't have access to the album. (That's what I did).

Well, just go to

and you will find various pictures, e.g. the park walk as I referred to. And a lot of other pictures of George, selected per album and/or period. Fantastic. A lot of pictures I did not see before.

I know the song well, if he hadn't been so hoarse, it would be one of his finest, I think. I was refering to what a "cool jerk" is. I'm pretty http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/confused.gif on that one.

You couldn't have the same difficulty that I have to understand those kind of word games in English... I don't know either.

And thank you FPSHOT for that link. Going to check it out as soon as I have some time to do it... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
