Is it a British term for social-butterfly or something?

A dickie-bird is just a childish phrase for a bird. The phrase 'not a dickie-bird' means 'nothing at all'

Yes it's like saying pussy cat or something.
In Magical Mystery Tour John starts to say an English nursery ryme called "two little dickie birds" while he is sitting on the coach next to George with the little girl on his lap, but changes the end.

Q: In the Anthology book, you talk about the unwound G string. What is that? I play guitar and I'm not sure what you're talking about.
George: It's one of those little things that goes up your butt so that people can't see your pantylines.

Two little dickie birds sitting on a hill,
One named Bob and one named Bill.
Fly away, Bob.
Fly away Bill.
Come back, Bob.
Come back, Bill.
Sometimes the birds are named Jack and Jill. This is a song that is sung in many pre-school classes in the U.S.

Sometimes here we fool around with names, like when our prime minister Wim Kok went on a promo tour with former CEO of KPN(our telecom giant) Wim Dik and imagining them both being introduced in english, where Wim is Bill.

Two little dickie birds sitting on the wall
One named Peter and one named Paul
Fly away Peter
Fly away Paul
Come back Peter
Come back Paul
My son loves it.

Q: Does Paul still piss you off (tell us the truth)
george: Scan not a friend with a microscopic glass -- You know his faults -- Then let his foibles pass.
Old Victorian Proverb. I'm sure there's enough about me that pisses him off, but I think we have now grown old enough to realize that we're both pretty damn cute!

Maybe one bird is Peter Asher or Pete Best and the other bird is Paul McCartney.
Just a guess...http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/joker.gif

My turn out to bring back an old thread.
Since I figured you still like to hear the answer to the question.
Go out and buy "Driving Rain" and listen to the song "She's given up talking".
Not that this answer will do you any good, becaus I know you never will buy or even will listen to the album.

Ha, gota yah here.
Since this is thé Heather album I have it (as d/l of course)and am even playing it. Maybe I should copy the lyrics to the Heather love songs to some tabloid after the Fireman fantasy article :laugh5:
So,
She's given up talking
Don't say a word
Even in the classroom
Not a dickie bird
Got it :smile1:

From the pouring rain,
Very strange.

I imagine a dickie-bird is quite popular with the lady birds. :wink3:

Magill, that post made me laugh. Let's just say it summons up the possibility of a myriad of risque jokes. (Not that I'll be posting any)
